Hello! Here’s a bit about me:
It is important to me to provide quality, professional counseling services that honor the values and dignity of each of my clients. I love working with individuals, children, adolescents, and families. Through use of play therapy, children can express their thoughts and feelings using toys and various forms of play. As Garry Landreth puts it, “Toys are children’s words and play is their language.” With older children and teens, I adapt therapy to meet them at their developmental level. This often means talking about things that are important to them, playing games, or completing activities. My goal is to connect and make therapy engaging for them. Not only do I strive to meet the therapeutic goals of the child or teen I’m counseling, but I also work with parents to provide them with the encouragement, support and parenting coaching needed to make a larger impact on the child and the family.
When working with individuals, I strive to align my therapeutic focus with their treatment goals. My desire is for individuals to feel genuinely cared for and for their defined therapy goals to be addressed in counseling. I use various treatment modalities, combined with clinical skill, to meet clients’ mental health goals. Some of the theories and techniques I often use in sessions are derived from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Existential Therapy, and Adlerian Therapy. I also offer Christian, faith-based counseling upon client request. Please click on the My Services button below to see a full list of the counseling services I provide.
